More than 16 million kids in the U.S. struggle with hunger. When you break it down, 1 in 5 children in America can’t count on having enough to eat. Without proper nutrition, these kids will lack the energy to learn, grow and thrive.
There’s a way for restaurants and their patrons to help in September through a month-long event called Dine Out for No Kid Hungry created by Share our Strength, a national organization working to end child hunger in the U.S.
Restaurants can help by registering their restaurant and then participating any time in September that includes one or more days between September 15 and 21. Dine Out for No Kid Hungry offers complete flexibility and offers a lot of ideas for restaurants to consider. The best way to raise funds is whatever fits your operation best.
Even if participating in Dine Out for No Kid Hungry isn’t right for your restaurant, you can still help by making a tax-deductible donation. Doing so connects vulnerable kids with up to 10 meals for every $1 donated, as well as build public awareness about the issue and educate people about nutritious, affordable eating.

Patrons can help by checking the No Kid Hungry website for participating restaurants in their ZIP code and then eating at those restaurants during the month of September.
